The Science of Medici in Florence
Major sponsors for what that concerns the world of art, the Medici represented for Florence also an important benchmark in relation to science.
The exhibition "The Medici and the Sciences", proposed by Museo degli Argenti in Palazzo Pitti (until next January 11), reveals the passion that Grand Dukes of Tuscany had for science and their attempt to support the scientists and their mathematical, cosmographic and cartographic studies through collections of scientific instruments coming from various museums in Florence, many of whom flourished thanks to the commitment of historical figures such as Lorenzo the Magnificent and Cosimo I de Medici.
